Mention blogging and perhaps visions of a someone huddled up in a dimly lit room sitting in front of a computer typing away.  Well it could also create visions of someone sitting on a beach for 5 minutes doing a few things then playing the day away.  The reality is it is somewhere in between.  If you have had dreams or aspirations to start a blog, then you probably have a few questions. Some of those questions might be how much time does it take; can I create a blog for free, what do I need to start? As a matter fact, blogging is one of the best ways to pass information that you deem worthwhile.  If you can build a following, then you even get to take something home with you in the process. Yes, that is right; you can earn some cash.

Going by the number of people accessing the internet on a daily basis, you can imagine how many blogs you are likely to come across. It is also fast, has loads of free themes and interaction with people is very easy.  There is a small learning curve that you have to do if you have never used WordPress before, but it is a very easy system to learn.

If you are paying for goods or services, you are definitely after value. This option is also available when it comes to blogging and you can either choose to pay for your blogs or host them for free. The 3 platforms mentioned earlier on offer free blogs and for starters, they will be the in-thing for you.  There is a great place to find all the free training you would need to learn WordPress and you get two free domains and that is SiteRubix.

 

Hosting

At this point, if you have opted for WordPress, then you are ready to roll, especially if you want use SiteRubix.  In case you opt for the self hosting platform, then you will need to identify the hosting company that is will make your website visible on the internet.  I personally like BlueHost if you chose to go that route, but this is really about creating a blog for free. Although self-hosting is really the better option because you actually own the domain itself, you will be required to pay should you opt to go down this road sometime in the future.  There are advantages of both options.  You should do what is right for your current situation.

 

Website Design

This is where you have all the freedom to make your blog’s appearance as appealing as possible. WordPress has a myriad of themes to help you design your blog and you can try as many as you can. The important thing though is that, it should be professional, simple to get around for all and easy to customize.  Try to avoid the flash.  What I mean by that is all the tech advanced stuff, normally slows your site down and actually annoys people after the first time they see it.

Put in better terms, do not choose a theme that will give people a hard time as they go through it and the other thing that you should not forget is that the theme you opt for, needs to be relevant to the blog. They should go hand in hand.

As much as this information is a great resource and it will help you get started in addition to pointing you towards success, it is not the end of the road. Appreciating that learning is a process that never stops is a sure way to help you keep on improving and become successful. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will a successful website.  It takes some time and dedication to make it all work.
